Expanded Learning Programs

We are proud to offer Expanded Learning Programs that provide safe, engaging, and enriching opportunities for students before and after the school day. Our programs serve students in grades TK–8 and include extended learning opportunities during the summer.

These programs are available to all interested students at no cost to families. Through a combination of academic support, enrichment activities, and recreational opportunities, we strive to support students’ growth both inside and outside the classroom.

Registration

Families may register for the program using the registration button below.

Our Expanded Learning Programs use 6Crickets for registration. If you are a new family, please allow 24 hours after enrolling in Aeries before registering in 6Crickets.

Although registration remains open throughout the school year, we strongly encourage families to enroll early. Early registration helps us appropriately staff the program and plan engaging enrichment activities for students. While we make every effort to avoid waitlists, enrolling early helps ensure students can participate.

Please note that submitting registration does not automatically enroll your child in the program. You will receive confirmation if your child is accepted in the program. If the program reaches capacity, your child will be placed on a wait list, and you will be notified if a spot becomes available.

Continuous Quality Improvement

Gateway Community Charters is committed to continuously evaluating and improving the quality of our After School Programs. We engage in an ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement process aligned with the California Quality Standards for Expanded Learning to ensure our programs provide meaningful, enriching experiences for students.

Attendance Policy

Students are encouraged to attend the After School Program five days per week to fully benefit from the academic and enrichment opportunities offered. Students may only attend the After School Program on days they have attended the regular school day. Students who are absent or suspended during the regular school day are not eligible to attend the After School Program that day.

The After School Program begins immediately after the end of the regular school day and operates on each day that school is in session until 6:00 PM.

Students are checked into the program by staff at the conclusion of the regular school day and must be signed out by a parent, guardian, or approved contact who is at least 18 years of age and listed on the student’s account. If a student is picked up before the end of the program, the reason for early pickup must be recorded at sign-out.

Students picked up after 6:00 PM will receive a late pick-up notice. If a student is not picked up by 6:00 PM, staff will attempt to contact the parent/guardian and listed emergency contacts. If no contact can be made within 30 minutes, Child Protective Services and/or local law enforcement may be notified.

Funding

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) and the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program are state-funded initiatives administered through the California Department of Education. These programs are designed to provide students with safe, supportive, and educationally enriching opportunities during non-school hours.

These programs serve students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade (TK–8) and support families by offering a structured environment where students can study, complete homework, and participate in engaging enrichment activities after the school day. The programs also encourage family involvement and support student success both in and out of the classroom.

Behavior Expectations

Student safety is our highest priority. All participants in the Before and After School Program are expected to follow program rules and demonstrate respectful behavior toward staff and other students. Failure to follow program expectations may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the school’s established procedures. Consequences may include a verbal warning, written notification to families, suspension from the program, or other appropriate actions.

The Before and After School Program maintains a zero-tolerance policy for violence toward students or staff. Parents and guardians will be notified of any behavioral incidents or interventions involving their child.

Families are encouraged to communicate with the Program Manager regarding any questions or concerns related to student behavior. Parents and guardians are also expected to support and reinforce program expectations with their children.

In addition, parents and guardians are expected to model appropriate behavior while on school grounds. Parent conduct can impact a student’s ability to participate in the program and be released at dismissal.

The following behaviors are not permitted in the program:
  • Violence or threats of violence
  • Use or possession of drugs
  • Racial slurs or discriminatory language
  • Sexual harassment
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Personal insults or put-downs toward others
If any of these behaviors occur, disciplinary action will be taken immediately and may result in suspension or removal from the program.

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Parents and guardians play an important role in the success of the Before and After School Program. Families are expected to ensure timely pickup of their child each day, maintain current contact information in Aeries, and promptly notify program staff of any changes.

Families are encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities and program activities that support the program and contribute to student success.

Homework support is an assisted component of the program. Students are encouraged to attend the full program day, which includes time for homework assistance as well as participation in enrichment and recreational activities.

If you have any questions regarding the program or your child’s participation, please contact the Program Manager for assistance.
