COA School Site Council

The School Site Council (SSC) plays an important role in decision-making at our school. SSC serves as the school community representative body for determining the focus of the school's academic instructional program and all related categorical resources. Our school site council is a group of teachers, parents, and classified employees that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school curriculum, improvement programs and school budgets. In addition to academic planning, our site council is also responsible for making decisions about parent engagement, safety, discipline, and English Learner programs. The members of the site council are generally elected by their peers. For example, parents elect the parent representatives and teachers elect teachers.
Parent participation on the council is important for developing plans that are responsive to our students' educational needs. Active participation on School Site Council will ensure support and input to the ongoing improvement of Curriculum and Instruction at the school. The members of our council will keep the school programs responsive to the changing needs of students and the priorities of this school. All parents are welcome to attend SSC meetings to share any school concerns. Parents can also communicate to any member who can then share with the council
