I am happy to have this opportunity to share with the families of COA Middle School, a little about my professional and personal life. Although new to middle school, I have been an Elementary School Principal for the past 12 years. My most recent position was at Riviera Elementary School in Kelseyville, CA where I was the principal from 2011-2017. Prior to that I was the principal at Grace Hudson Elementary School, a Spanish/English dual language immersion school in Ukiah, CA from 2005-2011. Before entering into administration, I taught elementary school for 15 years. I am excited about this opportunity to work at the middle school level and to be working with the students and staff at COA Middle School.
Most of my formal studies in education have been at Sonoma State University where I earned my BA in Liberal Studies, and continued to earn my Multiple Subject Credential, my Administrative Services Credential and my Masters in Educational Administration. I consider myself to be a life-long learner and am currently pursuing my doctorate in Organizational Leadership through Brandman University.
My family is very important to me. I have two grown daughters and four wonderful grandchildren. Although currently very busy with my doctoral studies, I make time for family activities. I especially enjoy the time I get to spend playing with (and spoilingJ) my grandchildren. I also enjoy spring gardening, DIY projects, home decorating/remodeling, crafts and treasure hunting for vintage/antique furniture, dishes, tools and other unique items that interest me.
Although my husband grew up very near COAMS, the Sacramento area is new to me. I am enjoying getting to know all of the students at COA Middle School and exploring the many things to see and do in the greater Sacramento area. I look forward to a great school year and feel blessed to be at COA Middle School and Gateway Community Charters.
