Kathleen Records 6th Grade Teacher COA Elementary

Growing up in Wisconsin, along the shores of Lake Michigan, has inspired me to dream big and pursue the endless possibilities available to me in this grand world.  It was also the growing up in Wisconsin, namely the harsh cold winters, that prompted my family and I to move to California.  After obtaining a degree in Interior Design and working in the field for several years, I realized it was time to earn the teaching degree my high school Spanish teacher always knew I would.  While living in Appleton, Wisconsin, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with minors in ESL, Spanish, and Bilingual education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  After earning my degree, I taught 5th grade for several years in Hartford, Wisconsin while simultaneously earning a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University-Portland.  This is my sixth year of teaching and my secondyear at COA.  I couldn't be more excited to be a part of such a collaborative, welcoming, and professional community.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, going to the movies, baking, and gardening.
