My name is Rushelle McDermott. This is my third year teaching kindergarten at COA. I am excited to teach your child and share my love and enthusiasm for education with him/her. I truly enjoy teaching kindergarteners and watching them grow throughout the year. I graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a BA in English. I earned my CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a second bachelor’s degree from Western Governors University. I grew up in Sacramento, but also lived and taught English for a year in Busan, South Korea. It was quite an exciting adventure! I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, Chris, friends, and family. I like traveling, concerts, and spending time at the beach when I’m not teaching. I look forward to another great year!

I received my undergraduate at California State University, Chico in liberal studies and went on to get my multiple subject teaching credential at Chico. My love for teaching started at a young age when I use to spend a lot of time in my mom’s classroom and tutoring her students. I come from a family of teachers, my mom teaching 5th grade and my sister also teaching kindergarten. When I am not teaching I love spending time with my family, traveling with my husband, being outdoors, and eating pizza! I am so excited for this school year and can’t wait to watch my students grow.
