Next to the joys of my family is the tremendous joy I derive from my career as a 4th grade teacher. Following college I worked in the field of Mental Health under a clinical psychologist and later worked at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at UC Davis. Growing up in Sacramento, California I was determined to not follow in my father’s and grandmother’s footsteps; as they too were teachers. My plans changed however, as I observed with fascination, the learning and growing process in my first born daughter. I feel truly blessed to have taken this journey as teaching is creative, rewarding and brings me true joy, fulfillment and laughter every day! My husband Tom and I enjoy summer travels, church activities, boating and water sports and hiking the American River bike trail. I love reading, photography, theater and cooking new menus. Daughter Lisa is working at a special needs school and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in counseling and daughter Kimberly is a sophomore at Chico State majoring in Journalism and Public Relations. I was very fortunate to take time off with the children and especially enjoyed going on overnight school field trips such as: Calaveras Big Trees, Lodestar with kindergarteners and to San Francisco with 7th graders. I firmly believe that parental involvement with the educational system is the magical ingredient to insure academic interest and success in children. Time spent looking over homework, reading together or tackling the long division will bring benefits to both child and parent in the years to come. Our girls are now adults and we are glad we spent the time we did working hard and playing together as a family.
